More About Me
Hey, I'm Tucker. I am a UI/UX Designer and a graduate from Bethel School of Technology, looking for full-time work as a designer.
During my time at Bethel Tech, I spearheaded two mobile app designs. I conducted thorough user research, created information architecture, designed over 80 iOS wireframes, and developed a full mobile app prototype. I also studied coding, gaining experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Designing On The Spectrum
I chose design as my career path because I have always been passionate about creativity through design. As a child on the Autism Spectrum, I often felt like I had an overload of creative thoughts. I would frequently fill my sketchbook with multiple sketches, and that love for drawing later translated seamlessly into sketching iOS wireframes that became beautiful designs. I enjoy tapping into my creative side and striving to improve every day.
How I Got Here
I was working as a shipping manager when the idea of pursuing a career in design entered my mind. I've always been passionate about design but didn't know which route to take to get there.
One day, before work, my dad sent me a podcast that provided information on choosing a path in the tech space. The podcast introduced me to Bethel School of Technology, which opened the door for me to pursue a career in design. I applied the next day and my life hasn't been the same since. They taught me so much not only about design but also about becoming a leader in the workplace. It was the best decision I've ever made, and I graduated from the nine-month course in May 2022.
What I Learned
During my time at Bethel Tech, I learned how to conduct thorough user research, including user surveys, interviews, and card sorting. I also gained in-depth knowledge of organizing user research into concise design ideas. I learned how to develop mobile wireframes, starting from a sketch to high-fidelity. Additionally, I attended several workshops to learn how to develop robust mobile prototypes for strong usability testing. The most important thing I learned was to always prioritize the needs of the user. The user's experience and the reasons behind it are the cornerstone of UI/UX design.
I love sports, especially basketball. I also enjoy collecting vinyl records and spending time with my fiancé and our three cats. In my spare time, I like tinkering with Figma. I am always striving to improve my skills.
